In 2012, he was selected by the ONEBEAT, and in 2022 for 10 years celebration of the festival.
PPS is, so to speak, a work in progress. He never stops in his musical journey. He loves live performances and Senegalese percussion, which is reflected in the name and essence of his latest project, “MADE IN GALSEN,” released in early 2019. It’s a live project with eclectic sounds that take root in the continent and reach out to the world through lyrics addressed to both young and old. The Writah is convinced that we can do Hip Hop in our own way.
As a proponent of conscious hip-hop and a representative of the people, he raps to give a voice to the forgotten and to address topics that are now seldom discussed but were still talked about by his ancestors during the twilight of his childhood. These topics include human values, social issues, and the eternal struggle of conscience that governs this world and elevates nations to sustainability.
Because if there’s one thing that fuels Paul Pissety Sagna, it’s the conviction of becoming one of the leaders of African hip-hop while remaining a Pure Senegalese Product.
Work in progress…
PPS The Writah
When you come across this typical Sahelian, tall, slim with a beautiful dark complexion and a regular face adorned with a bright, white smile, you will feel like you’re facing a character straight out of an Amadou Kumba tale. Everything is there—the majesty in his gestures, the aura of wisdom emanating from his composed temperament, an innocent yet very sincere gaze, all accompanied by a joyful and playful personality. Perhaps we should seek the artist in the child who, coming from a modest family in Dangou Nord, a popular neighborhood in the old city of Rufisque, grew up in colossal cultural and artistic richness.
